Provided are an ultrasound image apparatus capable of replacing an ultrasound prove more quickly and conveniently when diagnosing a patient by using the ultrasound image apparatus, and a control method thereof. The ultrasound image apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a first ultrasound probe transmitting and receiving an ultrasound signal to acquire an ultrasound image of a target object； a second ultrasound probe which is different from the first ultrasound probe； a storage part storing a program guiding a diagnostic procedure of a patient including a predetermined first diagnosis step and a second diagnosis step； and a control part, which guides to diagnose the patient by using the first ultrasound probe corresponding to the first diagnosis step, and guides to replace the first ultrasound probe to the second ultrasound probe corresponding to the second diagnosis step when changing to the second diagnosis step from the first diagnosis step based on the program.일 실시예에 따르면 초음파 영상 장치를 이용하여 환자를 전체적으로 진단 할 때 초음파 프로브를 교체하는 데 있어서 더욱 신속하고 편리하게 교체 할 수 있는 초음파 영상장치 및 그 제어방법을 제공한다. 일 실시예에 따른 초음파 영상장치는, 초음파 신호를 송수신하여 대상체의 초음파 영상을 획득하는 제1초음파 프로브； 상기 제1초음파 프로브와 다른 종류의 초음파 프로브로 구비되는 제2초음파 프로브； 미리 결정된 제1진단 단계 및 제2진단 단계를 포함하는 환자의 진단 순서를 가이드 하는 프로그램을 저장하는 저장부； 및 상기 제1진단 단계에 대응되는 상기 제1초음파 프로브를 이용하여 환자를 진단하도록 가이드하고, 상기 프로그램에 기초하여 상기 제1진단 단계에서 상기 제2진단 단계로 변경되는 경우, 상기 제2진단 단계에 대응되는 상기 제2초음파 프로브로 교체하도록 가이드 하는 제어부；를 포함한다.
