PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide hair dyes which can be applied to the hair by hand, can be readily washed off and do not remain when washing after application, are excellent in dye-affinity of the hair without dyeing the skin or scalp, are excellent in storage stability, are not decolored even by shampooing, and have high resistance to ultraviolet light without fading.SOLUTION: The above subject can be solved by a nonaqueous hair dye characterized by containing 0.01 mass% or more of 5,6-dihydroxyindoles in a nonaqueous composition containing 20 to 60 mass% of a hydrocarbon oil, 1 to 20 mass% of a surfactant, 20 to 86 mass% of higher fatty acid polyhydric alcohol ester and/or higher alcohol polyhydric alcohol ether, and 3 to 20 mass% of higher fatty acid, to the entire nonaqueous hair dye.
