A sound generating mechanism for a spinning reel that generates sound by rotation of a spool relative to a spool shaft includes a first member, a second member, a pin member, a coil spring and a metal holding member. The first member is integrally rotatable with the spool, and has a plurality of concavo-convex portions arranged at intervals in a direction of rotation of the spool. The second member is rotationally fixed with respect to the spool shaft. The pin member is disposed to be capable of contacting the concavo-convex portions. The coil spring is configured to bias the pin member toward the concavo-convex portions.
