PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly purified α-Gal A, and various methods for purifying the same； an α-Gal A preparation with an altered charge and a method for producing such a preparation； an α-Gal A preparation having an extended circulating half-life in a mammalian host, and a method for producing the same； and a method and a dosage for administering the α-Gal A preparation to a subject.SOLUTION: A human α-Gal A glycoprotein preparation is purified to at least 99.5% homogeneity when measured by SDS-PAGE or reverse phase HPLC. The preparation includes various α-Gal A glycoforms and has a specific activity of at least 3.0×10units/protein, while being substantially free of lectin.SELECTED DRAWING: None
