PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blood pump having a pump housing and a rotor mounted for rotation within the housing.
SOLUTION: The rotor 17 has a rotating axis and an attached impeller 19. The blood pump 11 has a blood channel 62 passing around the rotor and the rotor has a circumferential edge 75 surrounding an end face 71. The end face is provided with a profiled face and the profiled face increases blood flow, which flows radially outward from the central part 73a of the end face toward the circumferential edge, compared with a case where the end face is flat.
