PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit loosening by manufacturing an artificial joint sliding member made of UHMWPE (ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene) with evenly dispersed VE (vitamin E) as the material.
SOLUTION: The artificial joint sliding member is molded in a prescribed shape and made of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene which slides to the metal or ceramic of the other. In the method of molding the artificial joint sliding member, 0.01-0.3 wt.% vitamin E is added to UHMWPE, the UHMWPE is retained at the temperature in the range from 80 to 140°C at least for 30 minutes before, during or after the molding, and an even dispersion process for evenly dispersing vitamin E in the UHMWPE is implemented.
