The present invention relates to an air cleaning apparatus which comprises: an electrolysis device decomposing water into oxygen and hydrogen； and first and second electrical discharge chambers generating oxygen plasma and hydrogen plasma by using oxygen and hydrogen supplied from the electrolysis device respectively, and purifying air, and to an air cleaning method using the same. According to the present invention, deodorization and sterilization of air are efficiently performed； fine particles in air are effectively removed without using a filter； and the apparatus can be simplified and miniaturized.본 발명은 물을 산소와 수소로 분해하는 전기분해장치； 및 상기 전기분해장치로부터 공급되는 산소 및 수소를 각각 이용하여 산소플라즈마 및 수소플라즈마를 각각 생성하여 공기를 정화 처리하는 제 1 및 제 2 전기방전실；을 포함하도록 한 공기 정화 장치와, 이를 이용한 공지 정화 방법에 관한 것이다.본 발명에 따르면, 공기에 대한 탈취 및 살균이 신속하면서도 효율적으로 이루어지도록 하고, 필터를 사용하지 않고서도 공기 중의 미세입자를 효과적으로 제거하며, 장치의 단순화 및 소형화를 가능하도록 한다.
