The present disclosure relates to the field of antimicrobial agents. In particular, the present disclosure relates to the use of aerosolized fluoroquinolones formulated with divalent or trivalent cations and having improved pulmonary availability for the treatment and management of bacterial infections of the lung and upper respiratory tract. In particular s solution suitable for aerosol and intended for once or twice daily administration that has both: a divalent or trivalent cation concentration from about 50 mM to about 400 mM； and a levofloxacin or ofloxacin concentration from between about 50 mg/ml to about 200 mg/ml.
