A plant or algae which comprises exogenous polynucleotides and an increased level of non-polar lipids compared to a plant which lacks said exogenous polynucleotides, wherein the first polynucleotide encodes a fatty acid acyltransferase and subsequent polynucleotides encode one or more of i) an RNA molecule which inhibits expression of a gene encoding a polypeptide that is involved in the degradation of lipid or which reduces lipid content such as a lipase, or ii) a transcription factor polypeptide that increases the expression of one or more glycolytic or fatty acid biosynthetic genes in the plant； and wherein the vegetative part of the plant has a total non-polar lipid content of at least 7%, and wherein if the transcription factor polypeptide of (ii) is present, the plant comprises the RNA molecule of (i).
