This method is designed to produce an absorbent article (1) having: a first member (30) that is provided with an elastic member (35) stretchable in the left-right direction and two sheet members (31, 32) provided with at least one nonwoven fabric； a second member (40) provided with a nonwoven fabric； and a fused section in which the first member (30) and the second member (40) are fused. The method comprises: an elastic member placement step (S302) of placing the elastic member (35) in a stretched state in the left-right direction between the two sheet members (31, 32) in the thickness direction of the first member (30)； a layering step (S506) of layering the second member (40) in the thickness direction of the first member (30)； a relaxing step (S507) of relaxing the stretched state to achieve a relaxed state； and a fusing step (S509) of fusing one end portion of the first member (30) in the left-right direction and one end portion of the second member in the left-right direction to form the fused section (SS).
