The present invention relates to compounds defined by formula I(see formula I)wherein the groups R1, Y1 to Y4, V, W and X are as defined herein, possessingvaluable pharmacological activity. Particularly the compounds are inhibitorsof11.beta.-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (HSD) 1 and thus are suitable fortreatment andprevention of diseases which can be influenced by inhibition of this enzyme,such asmetabolic diseases, in particular diabetes type 2, obesity, and dyslipidemia.
