An enhanced stent apparatus (100) comprises a support element (102). The support element (102) has metal struts that are constructed to be positioned in a body lumen (400). The stent apparatus (100) further comprises a knitted porous structure (104) located over an exterior surface of said support element (102). The knitted porous structure (104) is comprised of a single fiber having a diameter of at least 40 nanometers to under 30 microns in diameter, extends over a length of the support element, and has apertures (110) sized from 20 microns to greater than 200 microns in diameter. The porous structure (104) has a coverage area of less than 30%.
