Disclosed is a method for determining content of the middle and protein bound uremic toxins in a biological fluid comprising: a. introducing the sample of the biological fluid into a fluorimetrical cuvette; b. applying light with predetermined wavelengths to the sample and recording an fluorescence signal of the sample; c. calculating the concentration of the substance in the sample from the transforming function. Also disclosed is a device for determining content of the middle and protein bound uremic toxins in a biological fluid comprises: a. an optical module, comprising a fiuorimetrical system, comprising a light source and a fluorescence light detector; and a measuring fiuorimetrical cuvette for holding a sample of the biological fluid so that the light can be led onto the sample and the fluorescence signal can be detected from the sample; and b. a spectra processing module consisting of a data acquisition module and a signal processing module incorporating concentration or removal calculation algorithm with the transforming function, and a data representing module, wherein the spectra processing module is adapted to execute a concentration or removal calculation containing the transforming function calculating the concentration or removal of the middle and protein bound uremic toxins in the biological fluids.
