The compounds are conjugates or derivatives of (3S 5S 6S 8R 9S 10R 13S 14S 17S) 17 [(2S) 2 hydroxyoctan 2 yl] 10 13 dimethyl 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 11 12 14 15 16 17 tetradecahydro 1H cyclopenta[a]phenanthrene 3 6 diol with a BTA linker such as from a tetracycline fragment attached to 3 position 6 position or 20 position. These osteogenic oxysterol compounds stimulate hedgehog signaling pathway. The various linker units are susceptible to certain esterases.
