PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a highly absorbent polymer mixed in an absorber from dropping, without reducing texture.SOLUTION: This absorbent article comprises: an absorber 4 serving as an absorption element 7 interposed between a surface sheet 3 and a back sheet 2 and having a highly absorbent polymer dispersed and mixed in water-absorbent fibers and a nonwoven fabric sheet 6 surrounding the absorber 4 and having outward extensions 6a, 6a with both longitudinal ends thereof extending outside of the end edges of the absorber 4. With the absorber 4 surrounded by the nonwoven fabric sheet 6, the widthwise ends of the nonwoven fabric sheet 6 are joined together, and the outward extension 6a of the nonwoven fabric sheet 6 is thermally compressed by sealing embossing 10 that crosses in the width direction.
