PURPOSE:To obtain a hybrid plant of mutually taking advantage of useful characters of both onion and garlic or Chinese chive by mating onion with garlic or Chinese chive by using pollen and female pith. CONSTITUTION:Pollen and female pith of onion and garlic or onion and Chinese chive are used to breed the following hybrid cell, hybrid embryo, hybrid second cell, hybrid or hybrid plant. Namely, (i) a hybrid cell of onion and garlic or onion and Chinese chive having embryo producing ability prepared by mating onion with garlic or onion with Chinese chive, (ii) a hybrid embryo having germinating ability and mitotic multiplication ability prepared by culturing the hybrid cell (i) in a medium, (iii) a hybrid cell or hybrid second embryo of onion and garlic or onion and Chinese chive prepared by induction of the hybrid embryo (ii) in a medium and (iv) the similar hybrid plant obtained by reproducing the hybrid embryo (ii) or (iii), the hybrid cell or the hybrid second embryo.
