Formulations containing anthraquinone derivatives with increased efficacy as insecticides are provided. These formulations comprise: (a) a formulation comprising one or more anthraquinone derivatives having an inhibitory activity against plant insects； (b) at least one C2-C7 alcohol or glycol or lactone； And (c) at least one surfactant selected from the group consisting of sulfates and ethoxylated fatty acid esters, wherein said alcohol and surfactant are present in an amount effective to stabilize said formulation.
