A first ring (1) is positioned on top of a shallow bowl (2) serving as a receptacle for surplus water and filled with fine gravel. The gravel is covered with a layer of tissue and a second ring (3) is positioned on top engaging with the lower ring (1) with an overlapping lower edge (4). The second ring (3) is filled with soil and one or two seed potatoes are inserted. When the shoots exceed a certain height a second ring (3) is added, also filled with soil and so on. Rings (3) and soil can be easily removed for harvesting.
