PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mattress adaptable to a platform, a mattress by which a specifically required function for a bed user like a patient can be prepared at low cost and by which an optimum mattress in accordance with each bed user can be readily customized, and to provide a method of the application.SOLUTION: An underlayer mattress member 1 has functions necessary as a mattress on a bed, and has functions commonly required for various bed users like patients, having comfort to sleep and a function as a mattress for a patient to lie down. Also, functions that should be added or increased in accordance with the characteristic of a bed user like a patient, in other words, functions that are necessary for individual bed users but are unobtainable with the underlayer mattress member only, are supplied by an integrated upper layer mattress members 10, 20. The underlayer mattress member 1 and the upper layer mattress members 10, 20 are housed inside a cover and used as a mattress.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
