The device has a set of grasp elements (2) arranged to grasp both sides of plants (1) rooted in a substrate, and another set of grasp elements (14) arranged to transfer the plants rooted in the substrate, where an actuator (12) is operated to move the sets of grasp elements. A pressure sensor is provided for detecting the pressure exerted by the grasp elements on the plants rooted in the substrate.
