PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a UV radiation system for killing microbial pathogens attached to the surface of a shoe sole. A shoe sterilizer 100 includes a housing 111 containing at least one UV radiation source. The bottom and sides of the housing are opaque to block UV radiation and direct the UV rays upward toward the top of the housing. The top of the housing has a plurality of holes that approximately form the bottom surface of two soles. The holes allow UV radiation to exit the housing and target the surface of the shoe sole located on and above the outer surface of the housing top. Each sole approximation region has a pivoting protruding tip 102 extending therefrom. A closure 119 is internally attached to the protruding tip to broaden or limit UV exposure from the top surface depending on the size of the sole placed on top.
