A novel system for delivering medication to a patient via an infusion pump is described. The infusion pump includes mechanical means for delivering medicament, which is locked and unlocked via a remote control device. The remote control device is configured to be programmed to the desired drug dose and to unlock the injection device to allow the patient, user, or medical provider to mechanically deliver the desired amount of the drug by rotating the dial.
