PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article having improved air permeability inside/outside the article, while inhibiting leakage of liquid from longitudinal ends of an absorber over a waist opening.SOLUTION: An underpants-type absorbent article 1 includes an outer wrapper body 2, and an absorbent body 3 fixed to the inner face side thereof. The outer wrapper body 2 includes a ventral part 2A, a crotch part 2C, and a dorsal part 2B. Side edges of the ventral part 2A and side edges of the dorsal part 2B are joined together to form a pair of side seal parts 4. The outer wrapper body 2 includes an outer-layer sheet 22 and an inner-layer sheet 23, and has elasticity along a width direction X. The outer wrapper body 2 includes pleats 29 extending in a longitudinal direction Y, formed across the width direction X.
