According to the present invention, an apparatus and a method for measuring a heart rate are disclosed. The heart rate measurement apparatus comprises: an image capturing unit for capturing a skin image and an image processing unit for detecting a heart rate signal from a change in skin color of the captured image, and calculating a heart rate. The image processing unit includes: a skin region extraction module for extracting a skin region from the captured image a heart rate signal extraction module for extracting the heart rate signal from the change in skin color from the extracted skin region and a heart rate calculation module for calculating the heart rate by using the extracted heart rate signal.본 발명에 의한 심박수 측정 장치 및 방법에 개시된다.본 발명에 따른 심박수 측정 장치는 피부 영상을 촬영하는 영상 촬영부 및상기 촬영된 영상의 피부색 변화로부터 심박 신호를 검출하여 심박수를 계산하는 영상 처리부를 포함하되, 상기 영상 처리부는 상기 촬영된 영상에서 피부 영역을 추출하는 피부 영역 추출 모듈, 상기 추출된 피부 영역의 피부색 변화로부터 심박 신호를 추출하는 심박 신호 추출 모듈 및 상기 추출된 심박 신호를 이용하여 심박수를 계산하는 심박수 계산 모듈을 포함한다.
