PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a fatty acid composition containing docosahexaenoic acid and/or alkyl ester thereof of at least 70.0 wt.% based on the total weight of fatty acid and/or fatty acid derivative contained in the fatty acid composition.SOLUTION: A production method includes the steps of: (a) generating at least one alkyl ester of docosahexaenoic acid and at least one saturated fatty acid ester by performing a transesterification of biomass obtained from genus Ulkenia with an alcohol； (b) generating a solution containing urea, at least a part of biomass from the step (a) and at least one organic solvent； (c) cooling and condensing the solution from the step (b) to generate (i) a precipitate containing urea and at least a part of saturated fatty acid ester, and (ii) a liquid fraction； and (d) separating the precipitate (i) from the liquid fraction (ii).
