PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus which appropriately sets a condition for calibration scanning such as preliminary scanning in MRI without requiring time and effort for setting operation from a user.SOLUTION: An MRI apparatus (10) includes a plan storing part (65), a calibration scan setting part (66), a calibration scan execution part and a condition determination part. The plan storing part stores an execution plan for main scanning. The calibration scan setting part calculates an acquisition region of MR signals in the calibration scanning used for determination of an image condition for the main scanning or a condition for correction processing for image data on the basis of the condition for the main scanning which is not executed even though included in the execution plan. The calibration scan execution part executes the calibration scanning in accordance with the acquisition region calculated by the calibration scan setting part.
