An interface joint 200 for interconnecting a generator and an electrosurgical instrument, the joint comprising an electrically insulating housing 202 having a first inlet for receiving energy from the generator, a second inlet for receiving fluid, and an outlet 208. A flexible shaft 210 connects the housing to the instrument, the shaft extending through the outlet and defining a passage providing a fluid path that is in communication with the second inlet and conveys a coaxial transmission 214 line that is connected to the first inlet. An actuation mechanism controls deployment of a fluid delivery structure (retractable needle) at the instrument, the actuation mechanism comprising a rod (240, Fig 3) extending through the outlet and an actuator movably mounted on the housing and connected to the rod. An actuator arm 224 may additionally be pivotally mounted on the housing, the actuator arm having a first portion 232 that protrudes from the housing and a second portion 222 connected to the rod.
