An auto-injector apparatus is disclosed comprising a flexible liquid medicament container (70), a needle (26) communicating with the container (70), a housing and a pump (40). The container (70) is received in the housing and the pump (40) is also disposed within the housing. The pump (40) is positioned to engage the flexible container (70) to expel the medicant through the needle (26) upon relative movement between the pump (40) and the container (70). A main drive spring is associated with the needle (26) to extend the needle from a position completely received in the housing to a position wherein the needle protrudes from the housing for injection.
