The present invention relates to use of an extract of syneilesis palmata for treating inflammatory diseases. More particularly, the present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating inflammatory diseases and a health-aid food for improving inflammatory diseases, which comprise an extract of syneilesis palmata as an active ingredient. The extract of syneilesis palmata according to the present invention can reduce production of inflammation mediators, including NO, iNOS, IL-1, IL-6 and TNF-, effectively. The mechanism of inhibiting expression of such inflammation mediators is carried out by controlling TIR-domain-containing adapter-inducing interferon- (TRIF)-dependent signals and activity of inflammasomes. Thus, the composition comprising an extract of syneilesis palmata as an active ingredient can be useful for pharmaceutical materials capable of preventing or treating inflammatory diseases and NLRP3 inflammasome-mediated diseases. Particularly, since syneilesis palmata is an edible naturally occurring material, the composition comprising an extract derived therefrom for preventing or treating inflammatory diseases is safe during the long-term use.본 발명은 우산나물 추출물의 염증 질환 치료 용도에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 우산나물 추출물을 유효성분으로 포함하는 염증 질환의 예방 또는 치료용 약학적 조성물 및 염증 질환 개선용 건강기능식품에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 우산나물 추출물은 염증 매개인자인 NO, iNOS , IL-1β, IL-6 및 TNF-α의 생성을 효과적으로 감소시킬 수 있으며, 이러한 염증 매개인자들의 발현 억제 기작이 TRIF(TIR-domain-containing adapter-inducing interferon-β)-의존성 신호 및 인플라마좀(inflammasomes) 활성 조절을 통해 이루어지는바, 이러한 우산나물 추출물을 유효성분으로 포함하는 조성물은 염증성 질환 및 NLRP3 인플라마좀-매개된 질환을 예방하거나 치료할 수 있는 의약품 소재로서 유용하게 사용될 수 있다. 특히 우산나물은 천연소재로서 식용 가능하므로 이로부터 유래한 추출물을 포함하는 본 발명의 염증 질환 예방 또는 치료용 조성물은 장기간 사용에도 안전한 이점을 가진다.
