PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the direction of a visual field within a wider range at the time of imaging without enlarging an endoscope and to reduce the number of driving rods that are advanced and retreated to rotate an imaging unit.SOLUTION: The endoscope comprises an imaging holder 11 holding the imaging unit 12, driving force transmission mechanisms 21X and 21Y each of which includes a pair of driving rods 22 and 23 having distal ends connected to the imaging holder at diagonal positions, a driving device 51 which makes the driving rods 22 advance or retreat, a support shaft 41 extending from a base member 53 side of the driving device, a relay holder 42 attached to the support shaft for supporting the middle part of the driving rods, and cover members 4, 5 and 6 covering at least a part of them. The proximal part of the driving rod 23 is connected to the base member side via a tension spring 25. By advancing or retreating the driving rods 22, the imaging unit rotates around two different axes.
