A bird feeder comprises a support plate 1 mounted by three suction cups (14A, 14B, 14C; figure 2) on a window pane (P). A feeding tray 2 is mounted by hook portions 7 on the lower portion of the support plate. A U-shaped cut-out 4 for the lowest suction cup is disposed below the level of the base 8 of the feeding tray 2. Rear sides of triangular ribs 13 formed on the underside of the base bear against the support plate in the region of U-shaped cut-out 4, ensuring that the weight of a bird on the front edge of the feeding tray tends to compress the lowest suction cup (14C) against the window pane. In this manner, dislodging of the array of suction cups from the window pane is prevented.
