Cytokine mediating composition comrpising a denatured protein smaller than 50kDa, zinc chloride, glycine and at least one other metal, metal ion or metal salt thereof
Disclosed is a composition comprising: (i) denatured plasma proteins having molecular weights less than 50kDa as determined by SDS-PAGE (ii) at least one metal selected from the group consisting of sodium, nickel, copper, cobalt, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, silver and mercury or a metal ion or metal salt thereof and (iii) zinc chloride and glycine wherein said composition on contact with a monocyte suppresses TNF-a secretion from said monocyte as compared to a monocyte not contacted with said composition. Further disclosed is a method of manufacturing said composition comprising: (a) mixing plasma with sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3 ) and incubating said mixture for sufficient time and at a temperature of no more than 80oC to produce a precipitate (b) resolubilising said precipitate in the presence of an aqueous solution at a temperature of between about 80oC and about 150oC, wherein either before, during or after the resolubilising step said at least one metal, metal ion or metal salt thereof is admixed (c) admixing zinc chloride and glycine and (d) separating a composition as disclosed herein.
