A portable pill dispenser (100, 200) is disclosed. The portable pill dispenser includes containers (102, 202) configured to receive at least one pill therein. The container is attachable to a housing (104, 205) with a dispensing opening (132, 208). The distribution mechanism (134, 206), the inclined plate (136), and the control panel (170) are disposed in the housing. The dispensing mechanism is configured to dispense at least one pill from the container to the dispensing opening. The inclined plate is configured to direct at least one pill to the dispensing mechanism. The verification mechanism is disposed around the housing. The verification mechanism (166, 262) is configured to activate the dispensing mechanism. The control panel is in electrical communication with the dispensing mechanism and the verification mechanism.
