The present invention relates to methods for treating or preventing a mitral valve disease in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a therapeutic agent. The therapeutic agent is capable of suppressing serotonin receptor signaling. The methods may be combined with a mitral valve surgery, serotonin transporter polymorphism genotyping, MV disease diagnosis, and/or an adjunct assay. Also provided are related medicaments, pharmaceutical compositions, and methods for preparing the medicaments.La présente invention concerne des méthodes de traitement ou de prévention d'une valvulopathie mitrale chez un sujet en ayant besoin, consistant à administrer audit sujet une quantité efficace d'un agent thérapeutique. L'agent thérapeutique est capable de supprimer la voie de signalisation du récepteur de la sérotonine. Les méthodes peuvent être associées à une chirurgie de la valvule mitrale, au génotypage du polymorphisme du transporteur de la sérotonine, au diagnostic de la valvulopathie mitrale et/ou au dosage d'un adjuvant. L'invention concerne également des médicaments associés, des compositions pharmaceutiques et des méthodes de préparation des médicaments.
