The side edge sections (7a, 8a) of front and rear waist-surrounding regions (7, 8) of a disposable pants-type item of clothing (1) together form a clasped-hand style joining region (50). Band-shaped leg-surrounding elastic members (14, 14) in the item of clothing (1) comprise a front upper-end section (74) which is included in the clasped-hand style joining region (50) and is in the front waist-surrounding region (7), and a rear upper-end section (84) which is included in the clasped-hand style joining region (50) and is in the rear waist-surrounding region (8). A lower edge section (73) of the front upper-end section (74) and a lower edge section (83) of the rear upper-end section (84), all in the clasped-hand style joining region (50), are staggered so that the one lower edge section (73) is positioned lower than the other lower edge section (83). The one lower edge section (73) is adhered to either a sheet member (282) and/or another sheet member (281) covering the other lower edge section (83), so as to be lower than the other lower edge section (83).
