PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for modifying the form of a plant such as the flower, the leaf and the height, relating to a DNA encoding a xylem-formation control factor of a plant and its promoter DNA and ectopically expressing in other organs.
SOLUTION: It has been intended to ectopically express a transcription control factor to control the morphogenesis of a xylem cell obtained from eucalyptus and analyze the modifying effect on each organ of the plant. In order to analyze the ectopic expression effect, a promoter constantly and excessively expressing in all organs of a plant and a eucalyptus xylem-formation transcription control factor is introduced into tobacco and eucalyptus and the effect is analyzed to achieve the modification of the form of the plant such as the flower, leaf and height. In this manner, the inventors have found that the form of a plant in addition to the xylem part can be modified by ectopically expressing the eucalyptus xylem-formation control factor.
