Provided herein is a method for identifying a patient as a candidate for treatment with an aggrecanase inhibitor. Also provided is a method of evaluating the effectiveness of an aggrecanase inhibitor. In one aspect the present invention is directed to a method for identifying a patient as a candidate for treatment with an aggrecanase inhibitor comprising: isolating a biological sample from a patient and detecting in the sample the presence or absence of at least one aggrecan degradation product wherein the presence of at least one aggrecan degradation product in the biological sample indicates that the patient is a good candidate for treatment.La présente invention porte sur un procédé qui permet didentifier un patient comme étant candidat à un traitement impliquant un inhibiteur de laggrécanase.
