A spring-loaded bag connector having a housing with a spring-loaded valve, a fluid injection portion, and a fluid discharge portion. The spring loaded bag connector is configured to connect with a fluid collection bag to create a self-closing collection bag. Further, the spring loaded bag connector is configured to couple to a second coupling element, such as a coupling connector, to facilitate drainage and collection of waste into the fluid collection bag. Decoupling the bag connector and the second coupling element minimizes fluid contamination of the outer surface of the bag connector system.
