A pharmaceutical composition comprising a combination (A) of a 1-thio-D-glucitol compound represented by the general formula (I) [wherein R is a hydrogen atom, a C-alkyl group, —OR or a halogen atom； R is a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group or —OR ； R and R may be the same or different, and each is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a C-alkyl group, or -OR； R denotes (i) a hydrogen atom, (ii) a halogen atom, (iii) a hydroxyl group, (iv) C-alkyl a group optionally substituted with a halogen atom (halogen atoms), (v) -OR or (vi) -SR； R is C-alkyl a group optionally substituted by a halogen atom (halogen atoms)], or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of the compound, or a hydrate of the compound or salt, and (B) at least one agent from the group consisting of biguanides, insulin secretion enhancing agents, sensitivity enhancers insulin receptors, insulins, dipeptidyl peptidase IV inhibitors, α-glucosidase inhibitors and GLP-1.2 mimetics. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1, comprising a combination (A) of 1-thio-D-glucitol compound represented by the general formula (I) [wherein R is a hydrogen atom, a C-alkyl group, —OR or a halogen atom； R is a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group or -OR； R and R may be the same or different, and each means a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a C-alkyl group or -OR； R means a (i) hydrogen atom, (ii) a halogen atom, (iii) a hydroxyl group, (iv) C is an alkyl group optionally substituted with a halogen atom (halogen atoms), (v) -OR or (vi) -SR； R is C-alkyl a group optionally substituted with a halogen atom (halogen atoms)], or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of said compound1.
