Dabei wird aus der Melasse eine mineralisch abgereicherte Komponente abgetrennt, aufkonzentriert, kristallisiert und eine ausgefällte kristalline Phase abgetrennt.Processing molasses comprises: extracting the molasses from a whey treatment process, in which whey is first extracted from protein by membrane separation and separated from lactose by a crystallization procedure; adjusting the dry matter content of the molasses; isolating a mineral depleted component by separating minerals from the molasses; concentrating the mineral depleted component by removal of water by evaporation (4); crystallizing the concentrated component; separating the crystal phase from the liquid phase; and washing (7) the separated crystalline phase with a washing liquid. Processing molasses comprises: extracting the molasses from a whey treatment process, in which whey is first extracted from protein by membrane separation and separated from lactose by a crystallization procedure; adjusting the dry matter content of the molasses supplied to process to = 10%; isolating a mineral depleted component by separating minerals from the molasses; concentrating the mineral depleted component by removal of water by evaporation (4); crystallizing the concentrated component; separating the crystal phase precipitated by crystallizing from the liquid phase; and washing (7) the separated crystalline phase with a washing liquid. The mother-liquor provides molasses having a dry matter content of 18-35%. The separation of minerals from the molasses is carried out by electrodialysis (3). The adjustment of the dry matter content is performed by adding vapors arising in the evaporation step.
