Provided are wound caring compositions and devices containing a pH-sensitive, preferably acid degradable, components contained in a water-permeable and hydronium ion permeable material. The pH-sensitive component encloses an antibiotic which is released to the wound upon infection by a microorganism at the wound site, and/or encloses a pH indicator.
