Disclosed is an isolated monoclonal antibody, or an antigen-binding portion thereof, which binds human LAG-3, wherein the antibody comprises heavy and light chain variable region sequences having at least 80% amino acid sequence homology to SEQ ID NOs: 37 and 43, respectively. Further disclosed is an isolated monoclonal antibody, or an antigen-binding portion thereof, which binds human LAG-3, wherein the antibody comprises heavy chain variable region CDR1, CDR2, and CDR3 sequences as set forth in SEQ ID NOs: 1, 7, and 13, respectively, and light chain variable region CDR1, CDR2, and CDR3 sequences as set forth in SEQ ID NOs: 19, 25, and 31, respectively.
