A splittable sheath (12) includes a sheath body (14) defining a lumen configured to receive an expandable balloon of a catheter, and a tab (16A,B) extending from a proximal end or a distal end of the sheath body (14). The tab (16A,B) includes a major surface (17A,B) having an outer edge (19A,B) defining a serpentine shape. Outward movement of the tab (16A,B) relative to a central longitudinal axis (26) of the sheath body (14) causes splitting of the sheath body (14).
