The invention relates generally to pigmented compositions that, upon the application of water and pressure, exhibit a visible change in one or more optical attributes such as color. The addition of styrene maleic anhydride copolymers to a pigmented composition, such as a so-called pigment grind, can impart color changing properties to the composition, as well as to a cosmetic or personal care product to which the pigment grind is added. The pigment grind and the cosmetic or personal care product formulation are preferably anhydrous or substantially anhydrous.
