The present invention relates to a single phase oral care composition comprising: a. a stannous salt b. a potassium salt c. a chelant d. less than 0.01% sodium lauryl sulphate wherein the oral care composition provides a soluble fluoride ion level of greater than 50% of the total fluoride ion. The composition of the invention has been found to allow prolonged contact between stannous ion and nitrate ion in a single dentifrice without toxic effects or insoluble products.
