PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination device capable of correctly and quantitatively evaluating the amount of illumination light when illuminating an external part by irradiating a fluorescent member with laser light from a light source part and emitting the illumination light from the fluorescent member, and to provide an endoscope.
SOLUTION: The illumination device 1a includes: the light source part 21 arranged on the proximal side of an insertion part 2 so as to emit excitation light a first light transmitting part 24 arranged from the proximal side of the insertion part 2 to the distal end side so as to guide the excitation light from the light source part 21 to the distal end side the fluorescent member 22 arranged at the distal end of the first light transmitting part 24, excited by the excitation light, and emitting the illumination light and a light detecting part 30 arranged close to the fluorescent member 22, detecting the amount of the illumination light emitted from the fluorescent member 22, and outputting a detection signal.
