The present invention relates to the use of a cosmetic composition comprising, in a physiologically acceptable medium, at least one hydroxyalkylurea corresponding to the general Formula (I): in which Ra, Rb, Rc and Rd each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a C1-C4 alkyl group or a C2-C6 hydroxyalkyl group possibly containing from 1 to 5 hydroxyl groups, at least one of the radicals Ra-Rd representing a hydroxyalkyl group, and also the salts, solvates and isomers thereof, as an agent for treating desquamative conditions of the scalp and more particularly dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis, and as an agent for combating desquamative conditions of the scalp. The present invention also relates to the use in the manufacture of a pharmaceutical composition of at least one hydroxyalkylurea of particular formula (I), for treating desquamative conditions of the scalp, in particular dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis.
