A subcutaneous access device has a skin attachment plate (3) coated with an adhesive layer (4). The skin attachment plate (3) is moveably linked by a retraction mechanism (7,8,9) to a needle support (2) with fixedly positioned needles. In the ready-to-use position the skin attachment plate (3) is spaced away from the needle support (2) and covers the fixedly positioned needles.
