The present invention relates to a gusset comprising a first, inner hydrophilic layer of highly absorbent material of man-made fibres a second, intermediate layer of a moisture absorbing material and a third, outer layer of a breathable, substantially moisture-resistant material for protecting outer clothing in the event of bodily discharge.
