A method for treating early-stage osteoarthritis in an animal is provided. The method comprises delivery of a therapeutically effective amount of a parathyroid hormone (PTH) or a PTH derived substance to an affected joint cavity of the patient. Methods for inhibiting articular chondrocytes apoptosis and for inhibiting a degenerative process of articular chondrocytes in an afflicted animal are also provided.Linvention concerne une méthode de traitement de lostéoarthrite à un stade précoce chez un animal. La méthode comprend ladministration dune quantité thérapeutiquement efficace dune hormone parathyroïde (PTH) ou dune substance dérivée de PTH à une cavité articulaire touchée du patient. Linvention concerne également des méthodes permettant linhibition de lapoptose des chondrocytes articulaires et linhibition dun processus dégénératif des chondrocytes articulaires chez un animal malade.
